“Wait a minute… you’re joking, right? That’s too good to be true! Is that a scam?” Enough with the doubts ka-Milenyos, apparently, it isn’t.
The “Big Bad Wolf” book sale is a Malaysian book fair frequently held in Malaysia, Myanmar, Indonesia, the Philippines, Pakistan, Taiwan, Sri Lanka, Thailand, and the United Arab Emirates.
This event is said to be the world’s biggest book sale with over 2 million new books happening on February 14-24 at the World Trade Center in Pasay City, Metro Manila.
Their books were mostly taken from the books of BookXcess, a book store dealing in excess or remaindered books from international distributors. That’s why it is brand new and affordable.
The books are legitimately cheap and in the best condition. The admission is free and it is open twenty-four (24) hours so if you’re from Metro Manila, there’s no excuse for not having the time to stop by.
How to “survive” the Big Bad Wolf book sale;
How to get there?
From Monumento station or Baclaran station, hop a train going to Gil Puyat station or a bus/ jeepney going to Gil Puyat Avenue. Then from there, ride a cab (It looks like a mini-jeep) and tell the driver to drop you off at the World Trade Center. It only cost me Php 39.( Train Php 30 and Multi-Cab Php 9) You’ll arrive in an hour if you’re lucky.
Control Yourself, Focus
At first, it was an overwhelming sight for me since the venue was huge and there are so many books! I know, you’re excited but don’t rush. Get a cart and take time choosing your books. The books are labeled and organized according to their specific genres.
Do Not Bring Food and Drinks
Food and drinks are not allowed, and if you happen to bring a book with you, make sure to get it stamped by the security personnel. Besides, no one wants to be accused of stealing a book anyway.
Pick and Collect
If you felt you like a book, don’t hesitate to pick it up and stack it in your cart. Why? Because there’s no guarantee that you can pick it up later. Who knows, maybe that book is the last copy.
Select and Pay
After picking the books you like, now is the time to select and choose what you really want to buy depending on the books you want and your budget. You can bring a calculator if you wish and proceed to the counter. Also, be advised, it’s likely a long queue ahead.
Post it on Facebook and Instagram
Every year, this event has a contest in which they award the most creative caption and photo with a book. One lucky participant will have a chance to fill up an empty bookshelf with the books of their choice for one hour, again for a Milenyong book lover, that’s happiness!

Fact: I usually read something with a cup of coffee and some bread, preferably a cinnamon roll. Lastly, here are some of the books I bought last March 2019. Although I did not win the contest, having books for a cheap price is a win-win.
