In the Celebration of International Women’s Month, two Filipina have been included in the list of Time Magazine’s Most influential women for the past century.
Cory Aquino is the first Female President in the History of the Philippine Republic. She is the wife of the slain opposition senator Benigno Aquino, and the mother of the Former President Benigno Aquino III and celebrity Kris Aquino.
Aquino started her political career in 1986 when the Filipino elected her as the new president though ‘Snap election’.
Her presidency has ended the more than two decades of dictatorship of the late President Ferdinand Marcos.

The Veteran Journalist, Maria Ressa is the founder, CEO and Executive Editor of online news website, Rappler which she founded in 2012.
Her navigation for true, accurate and free press named her as the TIME’s ‘Person of the Year’ in 2018.
According to Karl Vick of TIME, Ressa is one of the people who dubbed a ‘Guardian in the War on Truth’.
“Since then, she has continued to navigate the murk between social media and despotism, calling out her findings to the rest of us at the risk of her life.”- Karl Vick added.
TIME listed of 100 Women who are good and innovative in their own field and create a positive and inspirational impact in a global community in the past 100 years. According to TIME, this is to highlight ‘influential women who were often overshadowed’. (PAOLO MENDEZ)
