PHOTO NEWS: Muslims in SOCCSKSARGEN celebrate “Eid’l Ftr” in their houses

SULTAN KUDARAT, Philippines — Thousands of Muslims in various parts of South Cotabato, Cotabato, Sarangani, Sultan Kudarat and General Santos City (SOCCSKSARGEN) area celebrated the “Eid’l Ftr,” the last day of Ramadhan, in their houses last Sunday, May 24, 2020.

That day, the Muslims held the Eid al-Ftr with their families in their houses instead of holding it traditionally in open ground, and in mosques. Government restricted the holding of such festivity in crowds due to COVID-19 pandemic.

Eid al-Fitr is called the “Festival of Breaking the Fast,” a “religious holiday celebrated by Muslims worldwide that marks the end of the month-long dawn-to-sunset fasting of Ramadhan.”

According to Maguindanao Governor Bai Mariam Sangki-Mangudadatu, the official holding of Eid’l Ftr on May 24 was announced by BARMM “Grand Mufti” Abuhuraira Udasan.
