Mayor Marop and wife Bai Emarie partner for relief efforts in the midst of COVID-19 pandemic

SHARIFF AGUAK, Maguindanao—Mayor Marop Ampatuan and his wife Bai Emarie “EM” Mangudadatu-Ampatuan did not think that they would literally be leading a fight againts a “coronavirus”, officially known as “COVID-19”, for the sake of their kababayans.

They never think it will happen. They never thought they will become the beacons of hope to their kababayans, whose minds and hearts are eaten by fear and hopelessness being fed by COVID-19, a virus that killed thousands of people and affected millions of families globally.

Though Shariff Aguak residents live in fear but they never hold-off. They look up for hope and for help.

In the direst times, Mayor Marop and his wife Bai Emarie, assisted by members of the Sangguniang Bayan(SB) and heads of town’s various sectors, stood and initiate measures and sustainable COVID-19 relief efforts that earned them praises.

In a municipal-sponsored social media account, it tells about the current situation there, how the LGU works with other sectors and what they have done so far, particularly on its relief distribution efforts.

For Mayor Marop and his wife Bai Emarie, the COVID-19 crisis gave them different sets of challenges and fortunately, they were able to overcome some of those challenges through the spirit of “bayanihan”.

For both of them, the fight is still on. They never know when it will end. But they are preparing for it.

Well, what they have done so far in the food assistance efforts?

Reports said last May 19, 2020, Mayor Ampatuan, assisted bybthe relief workers and troops from the Philippine National Police(PNP) and Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), distributed food assistance to the town’s 13 barangays.

A total of 10,000 household have already received food assistance in separate relief operations, according to posted in its social media account.
