The law took effect, 15 days after its publication to the official gazette or a newspaper.

Written on the copy of the law, “the present Provincial Capitol located in the City of Antipolo, Province of Rizal shall be deemed as the official Provincial Government Center where all the provincial offices shall be established.”

On the other hand, Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto, congratulates the new capital city and the province for the new proclamation.

In 1901, Rizal was officially declared as Province and Pasig was included among its towns. For four decades being the province’s capital despite its inclusion under the territorial land of Metro Manila, Sotto also said in his Twitter Post “Pasig was a part of Rizal until Metro Manila was created in 1975. However, the seat of government was never formally transferred until now.”

Rizal Province is still under the leadership of its well-known political clan of the Ynares’.

The governorship of Rebecca ‘Nini’ Ynares was known to be an advocate of environmental protection through the ‘YES (Ynares Eco System) TO GREEN’ campaign. (From Paolo Mendez / Photo courtesy to the official twitter post of Vico Sotto)
