
KORONADAL CITY, Philippines — Hundreds of farmers and their families in this city are rejoicing after Deputy Speaker and South Cotabato 2nd District Rep. Atty. Ferdinand “DINAND” Hernandez turned-over four new “Communal Irrigation System” (or CIS) projects worth nearly P14 million during a mass turn-over ceremony held inside the compound of NIA today.
The said projects were: Bo. 7, now known as Barangay Topland, CIS (P5-M); Mani CIS (P3-M); Supon CIS (P2-M); and Cadidang CIS (P3,838,380-M).
Congressman Hernandez, reportedly assisted by City Mayor Eliordo Ogena, barangay officials and personnel from the National Irrigation Administration (NIA), turned-over the said projects to the communal irrigators.
Those who attended the event are With me are Vice Governor Vicente de Jesus, Board Members Henry Ladot, Dardanilo Dar, Ellen Grace Subere-Albios, Jinky Avance, Larry de Pedro VI, NIA Acting Manager Engr. Ma. Luz Laud and Region 12 Acting Engineering & Operation Division Manager Engr. Teresita Pieldad and Irrigators’ Association officers.
In an interview via his fb messenger, Congressman Hernandez said the four CIS projects will cover 121 hectares of rice lands and will benefit 140 farmers in the said areas.
“They will now plow and harvest in well-irrigated lands,” Congressman Hernandez said. The said projects were implemented through the initiative and efforts made by Congressman Hernandez.
Last month, Congressman Hernandez also turned-over more than P50 million worth of projects, ranging from gymnasium, public market, barangal hall, health station and others, in 21 barangays in the towns of Norala, Banga, T’boli and Tantangan. (Rashid RH. Bajo via DM-Mindanao Desk)
