
DPWH, OCD lead ground breaking ceremony for the construction of Koronadal City evacuation center

PRESS RELEASE — September 21, 2020- The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) XII and the Office of the Civil Defense (OCD) led the groundbreaking ceremony to kick off the construction of the Php36 Million Evacuation Center in Brgy. San Jose, Koronadal City, South Cotabato.
The hazard-adaptive building can provide spaces for at least 500 people. It is also designed in compliance to BP344 or the Accessibility Law which ensures differently-abled persons access and convenience during the evacuation period.
It includes a well-lit and sufficiently ventilated accommodation building, reception area, stage area, administration office with consultation room, clinic, play room with breastfeeding room, mess hall with kitchen, conjugal room, storage room, toilet and bath facilities for men, women and differently-abled persons and a prayer room.
Secretary Mark A. Villar has approved the funding requests for the construction of five other centers this year in Bagumbayan and Tacurong City, Sultan Kudarat and three in North Cotabato Province (one in Arakan and two in Kidapawan City).
The ceremony is attended by Regional Director Minda C. Morante of the Office of Civil Defense, DPWHXII Regional Director Basir M. Ibrahim, Koronadal City Mayor Eliordo Ogena, Brgy. Chairman Danilo Simtim and local government officials. (FROM DPWH-XII)
