DPWH completes P50-M flood mitigation structure in Sultan Kudarat province

SULTAN KUDARAT (Region 12), Philippines — Residents and hectares of rice fields found along Ala River Basin in Mapantig Section in Isulan, the capital town of Sultan Kudarat province, are now protected against the threat of floods.
This after the regional office of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) based in Koronadal City announced on Thursday (Nov. 26) on its social media account the completion of its “flood mitigation structure” project worth P50-M in Sultan Kudarat province.
In its facebook account, the DPWH-XII said the “flood mitigation structure is now protecting residents and hectares of rice fields along Ala River Basin in Mapantig Section, Isulan, Sultan Kudarat since its completion on August 2020 and on time the Province of Sultan Kudarat made its mark as the top producer of rice in Region 12.”
Qouting District Engineer Amer T. Pundag of Sultan Kudarat 1st District Engineering Office, it said that “the 500- liner meter project is completed two months ahead of the expected completion date.”
“The Php50-Million construction of reinforced concrete revetment, earthworks and grouted riprap on both ends is designed to reduce the overall risk caused by frequent flooding in the area,” it added.
