Female councilor distributes 150 solar-powered lights in Koronadal City’s 27 barangays

KORONADAL CITY, Philippines (R12) — It’s more sun in this city, and thanks to the generosity of beauty queen-turned-public servant City Councilor Maylene Bascon-De Guzman, popularly known here as “Inday Maylene.”

According to Councilor De Guzman, she prepared a total of 150 solar-powered lights to distribute in the city’s 27 barangays.

“Nabigyan ko na yung ibang mga barangay pero may mga barangay pa na hindi ko pa nabigyan. On-going yung distribution ko. Lahat na 27 barangay ng siyudad ay mabibigyan ng solar-powered lights,” Councilor De Guzman told Diyaryo Milenyo in a messenger interview today.

Councilor De Guzman said she also allocated solar lights for areas located in the mountains.

“Magbibigay din ako ng mga solar lights sa mga bukid na wala pang mga ilaw. Kawawa kasi sila doon,” Councilor De Guzman said.

The lady councilor was accompanied by her husband Mark De Guzman, a businessman from Dubai, while distributing the solar lights to the barangays.

Councilor De Guzman, who was crowned as “Lakambini ng Koronadal” several years ago, said distributing solar lights to every barangay is part of her commitment to repay the trust and support of the people by way of doing projects and programs that could really benefit them. (RASHID RH. BAJO)
