PANDAG, Maguindanao (BARMM) — After 12 years of hurdling challenges, the Municipality of Pandag stood now with pride of its landmarks that symbolized its strength, struggles and endurance to survive.

Twelve years ago, first officials of Pandag ran the town on “meager locally-sourced funds” but still they survived.

Pandag was created on January 12, 2007 by virtue of MMA Act No. 2014 during the Fifth Assembly of then Regional Legislative Assembly (RLA). It was MP Khadafeh “Toy” Mangudadatu who authored and sponsored the bill creating the said municipality. He was a former member of the RLA until it was dissolved last year.

It was recognized by the newly-created BARMM regional government last year as a “regular municipality” that entitled it to have an annual Internal Revenue Allotment (IRA).

Currently, the LGU-Pandag is under the leadership of Mayor Zihan Mamalinta-Mangudadatu, the wife of MP Toy Mangudadatu.

Mayor Zihan is the daughter of the late legendary General Akmad Mamalinta of Mindanao.

MP Toy Mangudadatu said he is proud of what Pandag now is.

“Pandag indeed has gone a tough and long way, yet despite all the challenges, including running on meager locally-sourced funds for twelve years before being recognized as a regular municipality last year and entitle it for its share in the internal revenue allotment, it has hurdled it all and considered all the challenges as “obelisks” in their cache of milestones as it evolved into an emerging and vibrant municipality that it is today,” MP Toy Mangudadatu said in his anniversary message posted on his social media account.

Today, Pandag is being deemed as one of Maguindanao’s “emerging vibrant” municipalities.

Last Tuesday (Jan. 12), Pandag celebrated its 13th foundation anniversary with MP Toy Mangudadatu as its “special” guest speaker.

LGU-Panda, together with Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), Philippine National Police (PNP) and multi-sectoral groups, hosted several activities to make the town’s celebration lively and memorable.

The town celebrated its special moment by observing health protocols prescribed by Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF), a government-organized task force that led the combat against COVID-19. (RASHID RH. BAJO/Photo credit to MP Toy Mangudadatu and LGU-Pandag)
