MALUNGON, Sarangani –– The deadly disease “COVID-19” failed to stifle Mayor Tessa Constantino’s will to serve the people of Malungon, a town in Sarangani province known as gateway to Davao Region and a home to vast plantations of banana, mango, sugarcane, pineapple and palm oil.
Quarantined for several times, exposed to dozens of COVID-19 patients and hit by coronavirus tests many times but yet her endurance to survive prevailed.
“Ilang beses ng na-quarantine. ilang beses ng na-expose sa Covid Patient at ilang beses na rin na antigen at RT-PCR test. Salamat sa Diyos, Covid Negative at lumalaban pa rin,” Mayor Constantino, a former legal counsel of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) in Central Mindanao region, said in her social media account.
Mayor Constantino said facing the risks of COVID-19 is part of her commitment to put first the safety of her constituents before herself when she assumed her first day in office as re-elected local chief executive of Malungon town.
“Kahit ilang beses pa tayong malagay sa peligro, hinding hindi tayo hihinto sa trabaho,” Mayor Constantino stressed. “Habang naka-quarantine, virtual transactions muna lahat. We know the drill. On-call 24/7 muna. Patuloy tayong magseserbisyo na puno ng galak sa puso.”
For Mayor Constantino, “Life is not lived with intentions, but actions.” (RASHID RH. BAJO/Photo credit to Mayor Tessa Constantino’s FB page)
