Turnover of farm machineries and IT equipment under the DAR-Italian Project

PRESS RELEASE: For 3 Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries’ Organization in the province of Sultan Kudarat, the new year certainly brought a new beginning as the Department of Agrarian Reform distributed small farm machineries and IT equipment to their organization under the microfinance component of the Italian Assistance to Agrarian Reform Community Development Support Program of the department focused on improving the quality of life of farmers in agrarian reform communities.

PARPO II Rodolfo T. Alburo of DAR Sultan Kudarat said that the beneficiary-ARBOs who received about P3.7million-worth of tractor with rotavator and about P500,000-worth IT equipment like computer desktops, laptops, smartphones and printers were Naldan Creek Irrigators’ Association from the municipality of Lambayong, Kalayaan Communal Irrigators Association from Lutayan, and Sigay Ka Tamontaka 4 Farmers Association from Cotabato City.

Alburo added that the Italian Project enables the beneficiaries to elevate their income and livelihood through the provision of interventions on agri-enterprise development such as microfinance support, and through capacity building and community infrastructure building.

DAR Region XII Director Engr. Marion Y. Abella congratulated the recipients and urged them to maintain said machineries and equipment for the benefit of their associations, their community and the future of their families.

Mr. Dante Almazan, president of Kalayaan CIA of Lutayan, had this to say during the turnover ceremony: “The DAR has always been with us through thick and thin; Whatever life throws at us, the DAR is always with us to lend a helping hand. This is another moment that they have given us the push and support that we needed to make our association prosper more. Our unending thanks is not enough to express the heartfelt gratitude we are feeling.
