Manila Water rates tataas; Maynilad makapipisil ng rollback sa Abril

MANILA, Philippines — Magkakaroon ng adjustment o pag-angat sa water bill ng mga konsyumer ng Manila Water Co. Inc. sa darating na buwan ng Abril, habang ang konsyumer ng Maynilad Water Services Inc. ay makapipisil ng rollback sa kanilang water bill, ayon sa Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System-Regulatory Office (MWSS-RO).

Sa isang virtual meeting, inaprubahan ni MWSS Chief Regulator Patrick Ty ang rekomendasyon sa pag-iimplementa sa second quarter 2021 foreign currency differential adjustment (FCDA) na epektibo ngayong Abril 1.

Aniya, ang Manila Water ay mag-iimplementa ng FCDA ng 0.84 percent para sa 2021 average basic charge na P28.52 per cubic meter o P0.24 per cu. m.

Ito ay may upward adjustment na P0.05 per cu. m. mula sa previous nitong FCDA na P0.19 per cu. m sa unang quarter ng taon.

Sa inaprubahang FCDA, ang mga kustomer ng Manila Water na kumukonsumo ng 10 cu.m o mas mababa sa bawat buwan ay magkakaroon ng pagtaas ng P0.27 kada buwan habang ang mga kumukonsumo ng 20 cu.m ay magkakaroon ng adjustment na pataas na P0.60 kada buwan.

Aniya, asahan na ito ay tataas ng P1.22 kada buwan para sa mga kostumer ng Manila water na kumukonsumo ng 30 cu.m. Ito raw ay ang downward adjustment na P0.01 per cu.m sa nakaraan nitong FCDA na P0.14 per cu.m.

Ang mga kostumer ng Maynilad na kumukonsumo ng 10 cu.m o less per month ay makapipisil ng rollback na P0.08 kada buwan, habang ang mga kumukonsumo ng 20 cu.m ay makapipisil din ng pagbaba ng P0.10 kada buwan.

Samantala, ang mga kostumer ng Maynilad na kumukonsumo ng 30 cu.m per month ay makaaasa ng P0.20 reduction per month.

Ang mga nabanggit na rates ng Manila Water at Maynilad ay epektibo sa Abril 1.

“The reason why there’s an increase in Manila Water and a rollback in Maynilad is because there are significant portions of the loans of Manila Water that are in Japanese yen and euros. Since the Japanese yen and euro appreciated against the Philippine peso, this caused an increase in their FCDA,” saad ni Ty. #DM
