INILUNSAD ng Land Bank of the Philippines at ng Department of Agriculture(DA) ang pinagkasunduan nitong lending program para tulungan ang mga hog raiser na palakihin ang kanilang produksyon at makabangon mula sa pinsala ng African Swine Fever (ASF) crisis sa bansa.
Nitong Miyerkules, Marso 17, nilagdaan nina Agriculture Secretary William Dar at Land Bank President Cecilla Borromeo ang isang memorandum of agreement upang magkatuwang na ipatupad ang Special Window and Interim Support to Nurture Hog Enterprises (SWINE) lending program.
“Landbank is supporting the Department of Agriculture by extending financing support to hog enterprises to sustain their operations and pork supply during this difficult time. Through the Landbank SWINE lending program, we aim to respond to the recovery requirements of our hog industry and contribute to ensuring food security,” sabi ni Borromeo.
Sa ilalim ng nasabing programa, naglaan ang Landbank ng P15 billion na maaaring hiramin ng commercial hog raisers basta ito ay naka-rehistro bilang mga kooperatiba o farmers’ associations, small and medium enterprises (SMEs) at large enterprises o ang mga korporasyon.
Umabot na sa apat na milyong baboy ang kinatay sa bansa dahil sa ASF batay sa tala ng DA.
“The interest of the hog industry is the primary interest of the Department of Agriculture. Its recovery and the repopulation program are the main strategies to make it possible that we can accelerate the revival of the hog industry,” saad ng kalihim.
Ang nasabing pagpapautang sa ilalim ng SWINE lending program ay gagamitin para sa swine production na kinabinilangan ng pagbili o pag-angkat ng semen o breeding animals; feed milling operations, at retrofiting ng mga kinakailangan para sa mga pasilidad at iba pa na sumusunod sa biosecurity protocols ng DA at magsilbi ring working capital ito sa pagpapalakas at pagpaaunlad ng hog industry sa bansa. #DM
