CEBU City, Philippines – Idineklara ng Palasyo na Non-Working Holiday sa Cebu City alinsunod ito sa pagdiriwang ng ika-500 anibersaryo ng Kristiyanismo sa Pilipinas.

Nilagdaan ni Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte ang Proclamation No. 1130 na ang Abril 14, 2021 ay Non-Working Holiday sa nasabing nasabing probinsya.

“It is but fitting and proper that the people of the City of Cebu be given full opportunity to celebrate and participate in the occasion with appropriate ceremonies, subject to community quarantine, social distancing, and other public health measures,” nakasaad sa Proclamation No. 1130.

Ang National Historical Commission of the Philippines at ang Cebu City local government unit ay nagbalik-tanaw sa makasaysayan na pagtatala ni Antonio Pigafetta sa Plaza Indepencia.

Si Pigafetta ay isang Italyano na nagtabi ng mga pagtatala sa makasaysayang kaganapan sa Pilipinas buhat ng pagdating ni Ferdinand Magellan at ang pagsisimula ng Kristiyanismo sa bansa na naganap sa nasabing probinsya. Itinuturing na ang journal ni Pigafetta ay unang naitalang dokumento na naisulat sa wikang Sebwano.
