MAGUINDANAO, Philippines — Government security forces successfully “restored normalcy” in Datu Paglas, one of the oldest towns of Maguindanao province.
According to John Unson, senior staff writer of The Philippine STAR based in Cotabato City, who posted a Datu Paglas situation update in his FB account, Brigadier General Roy Galido, commander, 601st Infantry Brigade, phoned him through his mobile phone and told him that “normalcy has been restored in Datu Paglas municipality.”
Unson, the administrator of Arangkada BALITA social media news with more than 33,000 followers in Facebook, said Galido also told him that “no one killed in the adventurism of Solaiman Tudon and his followers.”
Tudon’s invasion of the town this morning (May 8, 2021) created panic among the residents and the motorists passing-by the town.
Unson, quoting General Galido, said “Tudon belong to the Karialan bloc in the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters, operating in the fashion of the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria.”
Unson said “Ustadz Karialan, a radical cleric, is facing a number of cases in different courts for acts of terror, including deadly bomb attacks in central Mindanao in recent years.” #DM
