SOUTH COTABATO, Philippines –– The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) earned the praise of a netizen after it helped to restore the “earth dike” reportedly damaged by raging floodwaters caused by overflowing of a major river in a farming village in Sto. Nino town in South Cotabato province.
In his Facebook account, Rolly Doane Aquino expressed positive reaction to what the regional office of the DPWH in Central Mindanao region did yesterday (May 19, 2021).
In his post, Aquino informed the online community that “ATM: DPWH-12 tumulong sa Earth Dike Restoration sa Barangay Panay, Bayan ng Sto. Niño, Probinsya ng Timog Cotabato.”
Aquino said the “Department of Public Works and Highways led by Secretary Mark Villar through Region-12 Regional Director Basir Ibrahim and South Cotabato 2nd District Engineer Khalil Sultan is currently helping the residents and farmers affected by flood by sending their heavy equipment to operate by restoring the earth dike.”
He commended the entire team of DPWH-12 for their “great effort” in helping the local government unit.
“In this time of crisis, we are together in our response as regards to preparedness, prevention and mitigation and even during rehabilitation,” Aquino said.
