Consumer groups nanawagan na ibalik sa gobyerno ang power supply sa Luzon grid

Ibinahagi ng ilang consumer groups ang kanilang saloobin na ibalik na sa gobyerno ang pamamalakad ng kuryente sa Luzon grid, na kasalukuyang hawak ng National Grid Corp. of the Philippines (NGCP).

Sinabi ng Kuryente.org, isang consumer advocacy group na nakatuon sa usaping enerhiya. Aniya, ito ay laban sa panukala na umano’y may posibilidad ng monopolyo at ang pagdagdag ng utang ng pamahalaan.

“We believe the government should not be involved in the energy sector anymore. We’ve tried with Napocor (National Power Corp.) as the monopoly before, it resulted in trillions in debt which we are still paying up to now. Let’s not let history repeat itself,” saad ni Nic Satur Jr., ang national coordinator ng Kuryente.org sa isang panayam ng The Manila Times.

Iminumungkahi rin sa pagrerepaso ng kasalukuyang ownership structure at concession agreement ng NGCP tulad kung paano nirepaso ng gobyerno ang maling probisyon sa Maynilad Water Services Inc. at Maynila Water Co.

Ayon naman sa Laban Konsyumer Inc. (LKI) na ang ultimate goal dapat ay matamasa ang mas maayos at tuloy-tuloy na power supply kung sino ang dapat mamuno sa Luzon grid at gampanan ang pangangailangan ng mga konsyumer nito.

“Our concern as consumers – are the power rates better now and will be better under the proposed policy changes? Are supply adequate now and will be much adequate in the future?” saad ni lawyer Vic Dimagiba, pangulo ng LKI.

Ang usaping ito ay bunsod ng madalas na makaranas ng pag-brownout sa Metro Manila at iba pang bahagi ng Luzon.

Ayon pa kay Energy Secretary Alfonso Cusi at sa ilang officials ng Department of Energy na may mga kakulangan sa pamamalakad ng NGCP lalo na sa pag-comply ng mga polisiya ng gobyerno ukol sa pananatili ng power supply nito sa Luzon grid. #DM
