DPWH–Employees Union honors Secretary Villar for granting support to the workers, their families while facing the challenges of COVID–19

DPWH-Employees Union National President Ms. Hanalyn S. Piang conferred the “Kalasag ng Kawani” award to Secretary Mark Villar through a virtual mode during the 123rd Foundation Anniversary of the DPWH on Wednesday, June 23, 2021.

KORONADAL CITY, Philippines –– Public Works and Highways Secretary Mark Villar was honored Wednesday, June 23, with the “Kalasag ng Kawani” award by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Employees Union.

Secretary Villar received the award during the simple 123^rd Foundation Anniversary of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) at the simple ceremony held at the DPWH Head Office building in Bonifacio Drive, Port Area in Manila.

In his acceptance speech, Mark Villar thanked the DPWH–Employees Union for recognizing his good leadership as a secretary of DPWH and for honoring it by giving him the “Kalasag ng Kawani,” the agency’s highest award.

In a video message of DPWH–Employees Union National President Ms. Hannalyn S. Piang sent to Diyaryo Milenyo today, she said that the officials and all the members of the DPWH–Employees Union expressed its recognition and appreciation to Secretary Villar’s successful leadership in ensuring their safety and in giving the support needed by their families that gave them courage to continually face the challenges of COVID–19 pandemic.

The workers’ union also recognized the exemplary leadership of Villar as a secretary of DPWH.

Ms. Piang works at the regional office of the DPWH in Koronadal City in Region 12, under the leadership of Regional Director Bashir M. Ibrahim.

“Iginawad namin ang ‘Kalasag ng Kawani’ award kay Secretary Mark A. Villar bilang pagkilala sa kanyang matagumpay na pamumuno upang matiyak ang kaligtasan at maibigay ang kinakailangang tulong ng mga kawani at ng kanilang pamilya na humarap sa hamon ng COVID19.”

“Gayundin, sa kagyat na pagsang–ayon sa dalawang Collective Negotiation Agreement na nagsilbing gabay upang maibigy ang nararapat na serbisyo para sa kaunlaran, hindi lamang sa Lupon ng Unyon, ngunit lalong higit sa hanay ng bawat kawani ng kagawaran,” Ms. Piang said.

Ms. Piang said she was one of the award signatories. Apart from her, the other signatories are Rafael T. Reamico, Vice President for Luzon, Teresita Serva, Vice President for Visayas, and Atty. Alain Zam C. Duran, Vice President for Mindanao. #DM
