In order to meet the growing demand and expectation from the increasing number of digital-savvy consumers, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) MIMAROPA has partnered with Paynamics, one of the Philippine’s most trusted and accessible payments providers, in conducting the virtual PayBiz Bootcamp on April 18, 2022.

The masterclass session focused on updates about the latest challenges, opportunities, and trends in doing business online in the country, and an introduction to easy-to-use e-payments & other relevant user-friendly digital-enabling tools at no upfront costs.

Around 57 participants from both the public and private sectors joined the half-day activity. Among the participants from the private sector were consolidators, grocery owners, and micro, small, and medium enterprises from the tourism sector. The majority of the MSME participants were consolidators of products from each province in the MIMAROPA Region.

Mr. Mark Joseph P. Panganiban, Chief Commercial Officer & General Manager of Paynamics Technologies, Inc. facilitated the discussion on the state of digital in the Philippines and the challenges and opportunities of digitalization in the country. Ms. Gracey Reyes, Marketing and Brand Specialist of the same company, on the other hand, introduced the PayBiz platform. PayBiz is an E-money Issuer (EMI) powered by Paynamics and is regulated by the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas.

One of the main features of the PayBiz platform caters to the needs of these consolidators hence the program discussion benefitted their growth and transition towards the digital economy.

Moreover, this event is part of the quarterly masterclass sessions being conducted by the regional office since 2019. The participating MSMEs expressed their gratitude for another E-Commerce activity to keep them up-to-date with the online trends.

DTI MIMAROPA Regional Director Joel B. Valera and Assistant Regional Director Rodolfo J. Mariposque advocated the use of trustworthy digital payment channels to secure eCommerce transactions. Furthermore, the agency is committed to continue addressing the needs and concerns of MSMEs in the new digital normal.
