Rice Subsidies para sa middle class, pinag-aaralan

Sakabila nang pagtaas ng presyo ng krudo at iba pang pangunahing bilihin sa bansa, sinabi ni Deputy House Speaker and bagong Henerasyon Partylist Rep. Bernadette Herrera na ang gobyerno ay ikinukonsidera na makapaglaan ng rice subsidies para sa mga mahihirap at middle-income households.

“Economic forecasts indicate we will have high inflation for many more months until the inflation pressures have subsided,” saad ni Herrera.

“Expect added upward pressure on electricity, water, telecoms rates because of added forex adjustment costs,” dagdag pa niya.

Sinabi naman ng Philippine Institute for Development Studies na ang mga kabilang sa middle class ay may kita ng P43,828 hanggang P76,699 kada buwan.

Nagbigay naman ng pahayag si Senator-elect Raffy Tulfo na ang proposed subsidies ay nararapat ibigay sa mga minimum wage earners at ang mga nasa laylayan.

“Below middle class, ibig sabihin mga mahihirap, yes na yes. Doon tayo sa minimum wage earners o below minimum wage kasi sa ngayon, I think there are data na nakita ko, na 8 million Filipinos are still receiving below minimum wage,” saad ni Tulfo.

“Yun dapat ang targetin ng ating pamahalaan na mabigyan ng ayuda, yung mga nasa poverty line, huwag yung middle class. Middle class can take care of themselves,” dagdag pa niya.

Samantala, naniniwala naman si economist professor Emmanuel Leyco na ang mga Pilipino ay higit na nangangailangan ng tulong mula sa ating gobyerno dahil sa mabagal pa rin na pag-usad ng world economy bunsod ng pandemya at Russia-Ukraine war.

“Ang ating ekonomiya ay pinaandar ng household spending kapag bumagal ang o humina ang purchasing power ng ating mga consumer, magiging dahilan yan sa pagbagsak o pagdausdos muli ng ating ekonomiya,” saad ni Leyco.

Samantala, sinabi naman ni President-elect Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. na kanyang pag-aaralang mabuti ang pag-suspende ng collection ng excise tax sa produktong petrolyo upang matigil ang epekto ng oil price hikes. ##
