Mayor Vico, nagbitiw na sa Aksyon Demokratiko ni Isko Moreno

Nagbitiw na si Pasig City Mayor Victor Ma. Regis “Vico” Sotto sa partidong Aksyon Demokratiko ni dating Manila Mayor Isko Moreno, ayon sa anunsyo ng nasabing partido kahapon, Nobyembre 2.

Si Sotto ay tumakbo sa ilalim ng Aksyon Demokratiko bilang mayor sa nasabing lungsod noong 2019 at siya ay nanalo sa pwesto at muling nailuklok nitong nagdaang eleksyon 2022.

Sa isang statement, sinabi ni Ernesto Ramel Jr, ang chairman ng Aksyon Demokratiko na sila ay nalulungkot sa pagbitiw ni Sotto.

“He is one of the inspirations of the party to be better and we were hoping that he will be the future of Aksyon Demokratiko,” saad ni Ramel.

“..not lacking in talent and strong, young future leaders of this country that were elected last 2022 and those who also did not make it but had shown exceptional leadership abilities,” ani Ramel

Sinabi rin ng chairman na bukas pa rin ang kanilang partido para kay Mayor Sotto kung sakaling naisin nitong bumalik sa kanilang partido ay tatanggapin nila ang Alkalde ng Pasig.

“We wish him the best of luck and hope that he will continue to be an inspiration to aspiring young leaders out there,” dagdag niya.

Samantala, nagbigay din ng liham si Sotto para sa chairman ng nasabing partido at saad nito na sila ay may, “different direction” dahil sa “recent events” at naniniwala ang Alkalde na, “we are no longer a group of individuals with similar political goals and ideals”.

“To me, this defeats the purpose of being a member of a political party,” saad ni Sotto.

Sinabi pa ni Sotto na kanyang dinelay ang pagbibitiw hanggang sa matapos ang national elections nitong Mayo.

Ayon pa sa liham ng Alkalde na siya ay, “always be grateful for the opportunity to share in Aksyon Demokratiko’s advocacies” and wished “the party and its members continued success”.

Ang Aksyon Demokratiko ay pinamunuan ni dating Sen. Raul Roco. Kinilala ang partidong ito noong 1998 ng Commission on Elections (Comelec) at kinokonsidera bilang isa sa mga malalaking partido sa bansa. Sa kasalukuyan, nananatiling pangulo ng nasabing partido si dating Manila Mayor Isko Moreno.

Ang Aksyon Demokratiko ay may 589 members sa buong bansa na nanalo sa 2022 elections kabilang ang 3 congressman, 1 governor at 48 mayors sa buong bansa. #RBM
