The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) joined the opening of the Kadiwa ng Pasko on Saturday, November 5, at the RASAC Covered Court, Barangay 334 in Manila.

Kadiwa ng Pasko, which was organized by the Department of Agriculture, in partnership with the Office of the President, DSWD, National Labor Relations Commission, Department of the Interior and Local Government, and the Department of Trade and Industry, is one of the efforts of the government to promote and market the products of local farmers, fisher folks, and small and medium enterprises owners. It also aims to address possible price hikes of agricultural products due to the upcoming Christmas season by bringing goods directly to the public that are affordable and below the suggested retail price.

For the DSWD, it showcased the products made and crafted by the Sustainable Livelihood Program Associations (SLPAs) as well as the elderly; children who are abandoned, neglected, or victims of abuse; and other residents of the different centers and residential care facilities (CRCFs) including the Nayon ng Kabataan, Sanctuary Center, and Golden Reception and Action Center for the Elderly and other Special Cases, among others.

Some of the products in the DSWD booth include rugs, wallets, cord organizers, bags, pastries, and other arts and crafts items, among others.

The DSWD Quick Reaction Team (QRT) also provided free porridge and water for the individuals visiting and buying goods in the caravan.

Meanwhile, DSWD Operations Group Undersecretary Jerico Francis L. Javier invited everyone to visit and support the products of the DSWD. The Kadiwa ng Pasko, which will be implemented in the different areas of the National Capital Region (NCR), will have its grand launch on November 16, 2022.

“Inaanyayahan po ko kayong lahat na tangkilikin ninyo ang Kadiwa ng Pasko kasi ito po ay ang pangako na programa ni Presidente Marcos, Jr. para sa mas mga murang bilihin at tsaka mga de kalidad na bilihin, at tulong na rin po sa DSWD – sa ating mga benepisyaryo tulad ng mga center natin. Ito pong mga produkto ng DSWD dito ay mga produkto na gawa ng ating mga benepisyaryo, mga kliyente natin sa centers, sina lolo, sina lola, ‘yung mga may kapansanan, mga inaabusong mga kabataan, lahat po ‘yan ay proyekto po nila (I am inviting all of you to support the Kadiwa ng Pasko because this is a program of President Marcos, Jr. that offers cheaper goods and quality products, and your support would be of great help to the DSWD – to our beneficiaries like our center-residents. The products of the DSWD here are made by our beneficiaries, our clients in the centers, grandfathers, grandmothers, the disabled, abused youths, all of these are their projects), Undersecretary Javier said.

Joining Undersecretary Javier during the opening of the Kadiwa sa Pasko were Assistant Secretary for Specialized Programs under Operations Group Florentino Y. Loyola Jr.; Assistant Secretary for Statutory Programs under Operations Group Elaine F. Fallarcuna; and DSWD NCR Regional Director Monina Josefina H. Romualdez. ###
