Igorot Stone Kingdom, Ipinasasara ng Alkalde ng Baguo City

BAGUIO CITY — Iniutos ni Baguio City Mayor Benjamin Magalong nitong Martes [November 9], ang pagpapasara ng man-made attraction na Igorot Stone Kingdom dahil sa umano’y kawalan ng business permit at safety issues nito.

Sinabi ni Magalong sa Management Committee meeting na ang naturang establisimyento ay nag-ooperate nang walang business permit habang ang stone structures sa loob ay wala ring building permit.

“…the structural integrity of the construction in question.” Pahayag ng Alkalde.

Ayon pa kay Magalong na kanilang inabisuhan na nila ang may-ari na mag-comply para sa business at building permit nito. Subalit nabigo ang may-ari na magsumite ng kanilang mga kinakailangan sa pag-apply ng naturang permit.

“…continued to defy cease and desist orders prompting the City Buildings and Architecture Office to file a criminal case for violation of the National Building Code on Nov. 7, 2022.” Pahayag ni Magalong ukol sa pag violate o pagsasawalang-bahala ng may-ari hinggil sa kautusan ng lokal na pamahalaan.

Ang man-made Igorot Stone Kingdom ay sumasaklaw sa isang 6,000 square-meter na lugar ng real real estate, at may features na stone wall sa kaliwang bahagi at modern-day tower sa kanang bahagi nito.

Dagdag pa ni Magalong na magdudulot ng aksidente o disgrasya ang naturang attraction sa publiko kung ipipilit ng may-ari ang kawalan nang sertipikasyon na magbibigay kasiguraduhan sa kaligtasan ng lahat.

Samantala, sa pagsasagawa ng kasalukuyang pag-aaral ng Climate Risk and Vulnerability Assesment (CRVA) ng Baguio City na isinagawa ng Asian Development Bank at ng City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRMMO), nakitaan na ang naturang structure ay nasa “very high landslide exposure” at ito ay hindi dapat pahintulutan ng lokal na pamahalaan ng Baguio.

Idineklara rin ng Mines and Geo-Sciences Bureau of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (MGB-DENR) na ang nasabing lugar ay “prone to erosion.” #RBM
