Groundbreaking Ceremony of the Cebu Bus Rapid Transit (CBRT) Project

CEBU CITY—President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. together with Trade and Industry Secretary Fred Pascual, other cabinet members, and local government officials witnessed the Groundbreaking Ceremony of the Cebu Bus Rapid Transit (CBRT) Project – Package 1 held on 27 February 2023 at Fuente Osmeña Circle, Cebu City. The CBRT is a project of the Department of Transportation (DOTr), which consists a 13.8-kilometer segregated lane with 17 bus stations, one depot, and one trunk terminal. Once operationalized, it is expected to accommodate about 160,000 passengers daily.
Further, the CBRT package 1 is composed of a 2.38 kilometers trunk service from the Cebu South Bus Terminal to the Capitol as well as 4 stations, and a 1.15 kilometers pedestrian improvement along N. Bacalso corner Osemña Boulevard to Plaza Independencia.
The CBRT aims to provide a feasible solution to the transportation challenges faced by Cebu City, especially heavy traffic and provide a more reliable, efficient, and safe mode of transportation. END.
