Vhong Navarro, pinawalang-sala ng SC

IBINASURA ng Korte Suprema ang mga kasong kinakaharap ng aktor at TV host na si Vhong Navarro.

Sa inilabas na desisyon ng Third Division ng Korte Suprema, ipinawalang-sala ng SC ang aktor mula sa mga kasong rape at act of lasciviousness dahil sa “lack of probable cause.”

Ang desisyon ay pirmado ni Associate Justice Henri Jean Paul Inting at pinagtibay ni Associate Justice Alfredo Benjamin Caguioa.

“WHEREFORE, the petition is GRANTED. The Decision dated July 21, 2022 and the Resolution dated September 20, 2022 of the Court of Appeals in CA-G.R. SP No. 166222 are REVERSED and SET ASIDE.”

Matatandaan na ipinag-utos ng Court of Appeals (CA) ang muling pagsasamapa ng kasong rape and acts of lasciviousness laban kay Navarro na inihain laban sa kaniya ni Deniece Cornejo, matapos itong maibasura ng Department of Justice (DOJ).

Ayon naman sa lumabas na desisyon ni Associate Florencio M. Mamauga, Jr., ‘granted’ ang petisyon na muling maihain ang kaso, at “reversed” at “set aside” ang naging desisyon ng DOJ noong Abril 30, 2018 at Hulyo 14, 2020.

“The Office of City Prosecutor of Taguig City is thus DIRECTED to the informations against “Ferdinand ‘Vhong’ H. Navarro” for: (1) Rape by Sexual Intercourse under Article 266-A (1) of the Revised penal Code, as amended by Republic Act No. 8353; and (2) Acts of Lasciviousness under Article 336 of the Revised Penal Code.”

Maaalala na nagsimula ang kasong ito noong 2014 matapos paratangan ni Cornejo si Vhong ng attempted rape. Naging bahagi sa kaso ang kaibigan ni Corneho na si Cedric Lee at mga kasama nito matapos umanong bugbugin at pagtangkaan ang buhay ng comedian-TV host na si Vhong Navarro sa condo unit sa BGC, dahil sa mga akusayon ni Cornejo.
