KORONADAL CITY — A symbol of hope and reliability, City Councilor Sharmaigne “Gaweng” Sala joined the “outreach program” in an upland village in Tampakan, a component-municipality of South Cotabato province.

The community-based humanitarian service was organized by the Philippines’ Leagues of Mayors, Vice Mayors and Councilors in South Cotabato province.
Konsehal Gaweng is currently the president of the provincial chapter of the Philippine Councilors League in South Cotabato.
Last June 19, joy and excitement swept over Barangay Lampitak as [nearly a] hundred kids prepared to receive “tasty chicken joy”  packs while the huge “Jollibee” mascot danced and waved to them from a  distance.
That day, in that moment, the kids’ adrenaline were high, fueled by their excitement to taste the famous “Jolibee Chicken Joy.”
All of them smiled broadly, knowing that in a few minutes they would receive the tasty gift they have been waiting for.
Konsegal Gaweng was reportedly “happy” as she helped spread the taste of joy to the kids, who seemed mesmerized by the beauty of her heart while distributing the food packs to each of them.
For the kids, beauty is not the pleasing appearance. It’s the good heart.
That day, they were truly blessed that there are people with good hearts, like Konsehal Gaweng, who reached out to them to realize the dream they are long dreaming — to share the taste of joy for at least a day.
The kids will not forget the members of the Leagues of Mayors, Vice Mayors and Councilors for sharing it with them.
Their kindness will remain in their hearts as long as they lived. [RHB]
