“Drag Art?” Pura Luka Vega binatikos dahil sa pambabastos sa panalangin na “Ama Namin”

Ilan lamang ito sa mga naging reaksiyon ng netizens sa viral video ng “Ama Namin” song number ng drag performer na si Pura Luka Vega.

 

Ang “Ama Namin” o “The Lord’s Prayer” na pinerform ni Pura ay isang Roman Catholic song na hango mula sa isang dasal na itinuro ni Hesus, ayon sa biblical text na mababasa sa gospels of Matthew at Luke.

 

Kung bakit ito naging viral, mismo si Pura ang nagpost sa kanyang Twitter account ang kuha ng kanyang performance sa isang event noong Hulyo 10, kung saan naka postura siya na mala-poon at hawig sa imahe ni Hesukristo sa kanyang metallic gold and maroon dress at matching headdress.

 

Mapapanood sa video na napapalibutan si Pura ng mga taong kumukuha ng video habang siya ay nagli-lip synch ng “Ama Namin.”

 

Ito naman ang naging tweet ni Pura kalakip ng prayer emoji.

Umabot na sa mahigit 17M views ang tweet ni Pura na talaga namang binatikos siya nang husto ng netizens na dismayado sa kanyang song number.

Makikita rin sa video na nagpunas siya ng panyo sa kanyang mukha. Waring ginagaya nito ang Black Nazarene devotees na nagpapahid ng panyo sa mukha ng Poong Nazareno.

Samantala, nagpaliwanag naman si Pura sa isang interbyu sa kanya ng ABS-CBN.

Sinabi nito na, “I’d like to stress that my drag performance as Jesus was not meant to disrespect anyone.

“On the contrary, it is a drag art interpretation of worship.

“I was very intentional of using a specific song and the symbolism to relate the queer crowd with the intersection of queerness and religion.” ##
