DPWH-12 officials sign MOA with LGU-GenSan for the construction of Php23 Million Covid-19 Isolation Facility in General Santos City

September 17, 2020 – The Memorandum of Agreement on the construction of mobile health facilities was signed by the Department of Public Works and Highways XII- Regional Director Basir M. Ibrahim and General Santos Mayor Ronnel Rivera with IATF Chief Implementer, Secretary Carlito Galvez and Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana.

The project, using shipping containers as primary material, and converted into a safe and convenient isolation and treatment facility for Covid-19 patients in the city. It will supplement 32 beds so that hospitals will have more room to accommodate other patients. The two- unit isolation facility also has two separate quarters for male and female frontline workers, nurse stations and utility/ storage rooms.

DPWH Secretary Mark A. Villar, the country’s isolation czar, lead the department to construct facilities in available hospital grounds or public spaces that will provide enough and timely infrastructure support for quarantine and isolation of Covid-19 patients and ensure safe and clean dormitories for our frontline workers nationwide.
