It has been almost two years since the first outbreak of the pandemic brought by Covid-19 went terrorizing our country. Looking back, it has caused nothing but fright and too much risk among the lives of the Filipinos young and old alike. None is exempted to the terrifying hazards this virus could bring us. Filipinos, if not all, were paralyzed including all other units and organizations of the community and the government.

The Department of Education is one of the most affected agencies during this time of pandemic, including its work force and those in dire need of its service-the learners. The system was caught by surprise. But just as the DepEd’s Vision and Mission affirm, every Filipino learner should and must have access to quality education at all times and without ceasing. And so, hand in hand, teachers and learners courageously stood firm so as quality education would still be at hand and would still be delivered to the learners safely and effectively.

Jaen Central School, as one of the leading educational institutions, is one with the Department of Education in attaining its goals amidst the most challenging chapter it has encountered. The work force adjusted much, it is true. But it has never failed to provide the utmost needs of the learners. Very challenging as it may seem, both to learners and the teachers, the administrators and faculty manage and still continue to do so the usual task they are committed with, and that is calibrating their service to better aid the needs of their clienteles.

JCS caters its best practices during the remote learning instituted solely during this time of pandemic. One of which is the provision of Learning Materials (LMs) anchored in MELCs prescribed by the Department of Education. Not only do the teachers supply the learners with the LMs provided by DepEd, but they also devise other supplementary materials appropriate to the demands and needs of the pupils.

Retrieval and distribution of the said LMs are carefully and safely executed so as to follow the protocols issued by the local government, the IATF and DepEd. The Administrators, Faculty and Staff make sure that parents and guardians observe safety restrictions as mandated.

The school also offers blended learning where pupils both learn through the modular and online approaches. The teaching force utilizes various online platforms and sites to deliver and even more engaging lessons ideal for the “new normal”.

Teachers provide the children with activities and performance tasks that are interesting and meaningful while also adhering to the standards set.

Learners who do not have access to the internet, on the other hand, are reached via phone call or text messages so teachers can keep track of their progress.

The school’s best practices are being uploaded and shared online to create a community and atmosphere of positivity that learning can still continue despite the challenges we are faced with.

Through the joint efforts of the school and community, defying any obstacle that we have now and those that may come our way will always give us the hope and courage that this too shall pass. ##
