MAGUINDANAO, Philippines — Sittie Shahara “Bai Dimple” Mastura, a member of the Bangsamoro Transition Authority (BTA) in Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), and her husband Mayor Datu Shameem Biruar Mastura of Sultan Kudarat town in Maguindano province are helping people affected by the quarantine and lockdown due to COVID-19 from their own pockets.

The couple distributed dressed chickens to more than 8,000 needy and poorest of the poor households affected by the virus crisis in Maguindanao.

“Bago pa man naging opisyal ng gobyerno, si MP Bai Dimple Mastura ay mula negosyanteng pamilya at gawain na rin ng mag-asawa ang mamigay ng tulong gamit ang kinikita sa kanilang mga negosyo upang matulungan, lalong-lalo na ang mga nangangailangan. Kaya ngayong panahon ng krisis mas lalong magbibigay ng tulong mula sa sarili nilang kita at magbigay suporta na rin sa gobyerno at para sa mamamayan na higit na nangangailangan,” said from a statement posted in Sittie Shahara “Bai Dimple” Mastura’s Facebook page.

“Kilala ang mag-asawang Mastura sa pagtulong sa kapwa kahit nung mga panahong hindi pa sila sumabak sa public service. Layon nilang maibsan man lang ang pangamba ng bawat mamamayan na pinoproblema ang ihahain sa hapag-kainan sa panahon ng pinapatupad na quarantine at lockdown.”

The statement also said that “Ang pagsubok na dinadanas natin sa ngayon ay lesson sa ating lahat upang ang pananalig natin kay Allah(s.w.t) ay pagtibayin at upang ang pagmamahalan natin sa kapwa ay lalong mangibabaw.” (RAMIL H.
