Also, Major General Juvymax Uy, who heads the Joint Task Force Central based in Cotabato City, urged BIFF and other armed (or terror) groups to avail the package of benefits offered by the government, under the administration of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte, for returning rebels.
They made the calls after announcing the surrender of six (6) members of the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters (BIFF) under Kumander Karialan faction yesterday (Nov. 24).
The returning BIFF members, identified as Kamarodin Sendatok, Tony Talin, Abo Ali, Nasrodin Ali, Mohamidin Patak and Togli Dalandas, surrendered to the Army’s 40th Infantry Battalion based in President Quirino Town in Sultan Kudarat province.
All the returning rebels were residents of Datu Paglas, Maguindanao, according to the report posted on the official FB page of the 601st Infantry Brigade (https://www.facebook.com/sixzeroone601BDE).
They also yielded M16 A1 rifle, ultimax light machine gun, M14 rifle, rocker propelled grenade and two barret sniper’s rifle.
In his report, Colonel Edwin Alburo, commanding officer of the 40th IB, said the surrender of the six BIFF rebels was made possible through the cooperation of Datu Paglas town officials, led by Mayor Abubakar Paglas.
Col. Alburo also cited the “intensified operations” of the Army troops and the continued support and cooperation of the local officials and residents why they (the six BIFF rebels) decided to return to the fold of law. #DM
