NORTHERN SAMAR –– Just like the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) in Region 12, the agency’s Northern Samar 1st District Engineering Office also did its part in helping the victims of typhoon Odette.
In the official FB of DPWH Region VIII, it said that the personnel of the Northern Samar 1st District Engineering Office delivered boxes of relief goods to Southern Leyte. It deployed also some of its maintenance crew to help augment the clearing operations there.

The DPWH Region VIII said the relief goods brought by the Northern Samar 1st District Engineering Office were distributed to the residents of Limasawa, one of the towns struck by typhoon Odette, a freak weather condition that displaced tens of thousands of people and destroyed their houses.
It said that “this activity is part of Department’s program dubbed as “Operation Malasakit.”
It can be recalled that last December 26, the DPWH–12, under the leadership of Regional Director Basir M. Ibrahim, helped the BARMM’s regional government in delivering its relief goods for the typhoon Odette victims in CARAGA and Dinagat Island.
RD Ibrahim said the DPWH–12 helped transport, through the dump trucks and service vehicle provided by the agency, “800 sacks of rice and other relief supplies” to Dinagat Island and CARAGA.
The 800 sacks of rice and other relief supplies were donated by the BARMM (Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao). #DM
