
Bagong Covid-19 variants, tinututukan ng DOH
MANILA, Philippines — Bagama’t hindi pa natatapos ang ating pagharap sa COVID-19, tiniyak ng Department of Health (DOH) sa publiko na patuloy na kanilang tinututukan ang pagsulpot ng mga bagong variant ng COVID-19 matapos matuklasan ang omicron subvariants na XBB.1.5 at CH.1.1.
Sinabi ng DOH na patuloy silang nakikipag-uganayan sa World Health Organization (WHO), upang tukuyin ang kakayahan ng kasalukuyang mga variant ng coronavirus na kumakalat sa buong mundo.
Pinuri naman ng DOH ang mga inisyatibo ng University of the Philippines-Philippine Genome Center (UP-PGC) at Research Institute for Tropical Medicine (RITM) para sa pagtuklas ng mga bagong variant.
“Even with these detections of these variants and subvariants, the important indicator is that our hospitals remain to have manageable number of Covid-19 admissions and severe/critical cases are manageable,” pahayag ng DOH.
Pinaalalahanan din ang publiko na sundin pa rin ang mga health protocol at magpabakuna.
“Just like any other variants and subvariants which had been detected, the DOH employs everyone to comply with our usual minimum public health standards,“ dagdag ng DOH.
Matatandaan na naiulat ng DOH ang pagkakaroon ng omicron subvariants na XBB.1.5 at CH.1.1 nitong Martes, Pebrero 7.
Itinuturing ngayon na ang XBB.1.5 bilang “variant of interest” dahil sa pagtaas ng prevalence nito sa buong mundo ayon na rin sa hayag ng DOH.
Under monitoring naman ang CH.1.1 dahil sa pagtaas ng prevalence and potential for immune escape ayon sa DOH.
