BACOLOR, PAMPANGGA — The San Miguel Beermen bounced back from a horrible defeat and demolished the TNT Tropang Giga, 116-90, to tie the series in Game 4 of 2021 PBA Philippine Cup inside DHVSU Gym.
Collective efforts were remarked from the star-studded Beermen, as big man Mo Tautuaa commanded his team in a dominant victory with 25 markers and nine boards, while June Mar Fajardo had a double-double of 13 points and 12 rebounds. Five more SMB cagers listed their double-digit scorings, respectively: Terrence Romeo with 16, Marcio Lassiter had 13, Alex Cabagnot etched 12, Arwind Santos grabbed 11, and CJ Perez recorded 10.
“They have to keep grounded and [refrain from celebrating] this big win for us. Instead, [they should] think of something that could help us again in our next game,” stated by Beermen lead coach Leo Austria.
SMB were blazing right from the tip-off, having a 12-point margin against TNT in the first period, 26-14.
Another frontcourt bad luck have hitted the Chot Reyes crew, as their main big Poy Erram was ruled out of the game after colliding with Tautuaa during the second frame. This gave San Miguel a huge momentum to lift their lead to 25 at halftime, 57-32.
Beermen kept their foot on the gas pedal and had an easy way towards the final buzzer, making it a best-of-three series against the hobbled Tropang Giga.
Jayson Castro poured 15 points for the TNT, while Glenn Khobuntin contributed with his 13.
The two powerhouse teams will collide once again in Wednesday for a three-game upperhand in the semifinal round.
